Applicant Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 26, 2026
This policy covers information we collect from people who apply for a job with us. It is separate from the privacy policy that covers our customers. If you are both a customer and an applicant, both apply, each to its own relationship.
1. Information we collect from you
Your application asks for:
- Your full name
- Your cell phone number
- Your email address
- The role you are applying for
- How you heard about us (for example a job board, a Facebook group, a referral, a college job board, or other)
- The name of the person who referred you, if you selected a referral
- Three yes or no confirmations: that you are 18 or older, that you have reliable transportation, and that you are available to work afternoons and Saturdays during our season
We do not ask for your Social Security number, your date of birth, your address, or your bank details at the application stage.
If you apply through a job board rather than directly on our site, we receive whatever information you submitted there. That may include a resume or a profile, which our own form does not ask for.
2. Why we collect it
We collect applicant information for one purpose: running our hiring process. Specifically:
- To evaluate whether you are a fit for the role
- To contact you about your application, schedule your interview, and coordinate onboarding
- To confirm you meet the stated requirements of the role, including the age and transportation requirements
- To understand which recruiting channels bring us good applicants, so we know where to post
- To pay a referral bonus to the person who referred you, if one is owed
- To keep records we are required to keep
We do not sell applicant information. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not add applicants to our customer marketing lists.
3. Text messages
Our hiring process runs on text messaging, and we normally text you the same day you apply. By giving us your phone number on an application, you agree that we may contact you by call, text, and email about your application and the job. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving them. Details are in our Application Terms and Conditions.
4. Where your information is stored
Applicant information submitted through our careers website is stored on servers we operate with DigitalOcean, a cloud infrastructure provider, and in the recruiting database we operate ourselves. Your record also stores whether you agreed to these terms, so that consent travels with your record.
5. Who we share it with
We share applicant information only with the following:
- People inside our company who are running the hiring process. Nobody else sees it.
- Service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract and only for that purpose. This includes our cloud hosting provider, our text messaging provider, and our internal customer and recruiting database.
- Anyone we are legally required to share it with, such as in response to a lawful request, subpoena, or court order, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
We do not sell applicant information and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
If you apply to us through a job board, that board holds your information under its own privacy policy, and we receive a copy into our own system.
6. The county permit process for door-to-door roles
If you are hired into a door-to-door sales role, Florida law requires you to hold a home solicitation sale permit issued by the Clerk of Court in the county where you work. That process includes a criminal background check and fingerprinting run by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the county sheriff's office.
We want to be clear about how that information flows. You apply for that permit yourself, and you submit your fingerprints and your background information directly to the county and the state. Tampa Bay Holiday Lights does not run that background check, does not submit your fingerprints, and does not receive the results of the state's criminal history search. What we receive is whether you hold a valid permit, because we are required to know that before you knock a door.
We do give you the forms and instructions, and your permit application names us as your employer, because the statute requires it.
7. How long we keep it
We keep applicant information for as long as we need it to run our hiring process, to consider you for future openings, and to meet our recordkeeping obligations.
8. How we protect it
We limit access to applicant information to the people running the hiring process. Application data is stored on access-controlled infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your choices and your rights
You may:
- Ask what we have about you. Contact us and we will tell you what applicant information we hold and give you a copy.
- Ask us to correct it if something is wrong.
- Ask us to delete it. We will delete your applicant information unless we are required to keep it, and we will tell you if that is the case.
- Withdraw your application at any time.
- Stop the texts by replying STOP.
To make a request, contact us at Phone number to be confirmed · careers@tampabayholidaylights.com. We will verify who you are before acting on a request about your information.
10. Applicants under 18
You must be 18 or older to apply for a job with us, and our application form asks you to confirm that. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 through our careers site. If we learn we have, we delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The version posted here is the current one, and the "last updated" date above shows when it changed.
